Works on building the port of Supsa have been suspended. A spokesman at the Ministry of the Economy has confirmed this information. According to him, a contract had been formalised in 2009 between the Black Sea Trading company and the Ministry of the Economy under the previous government to build the port. However, the company has failed to fulfil its obligations, and the construction works have come to a halt. The spokesman states that the project is now awaiting new investors, and it is not known when the works can be resumed. The port of Supsa was to be built on an area of 180 hectares in size, and was to handle 40 million tons of cargo annually. A sum of 750 million USD was to be invested into the project.
