One of the leaders of the United National Movement Zurab Japaridze has written an open letter to Bidzina Ivanishvili, in which he speaks about the dangers of a ban on gambling, placing a particular emphasis on the losses of jobs and investment. The Gambling Association has declined to make a televised comment on the issue. However, the association’s Chairman Levan Akhvlediani has told TV3 over the telephone that the issue of an outright ban on gambling is not on the table at this stage, and the talk is merely about certain restrictions. He adds that talks about the gambling industry are to be resumed in autumn, while the legislation itself will be adopted towards the end of the year. According to Mr. Akhvlediani, placing age and advertising restrictions are the issues at stake.
