Members of the United National Movement have begun keeping vigil at the Matrosov prison. According to them, this move is necessary in order to avoid a repeat event of Vano Merabishvili being taken out of prison and having pressure applied on him.
A special announcement has been made by members of the parliamentary opposition yesterday. Sergo Ratiani and UNM activists spent last night outside the prison.
Vano Merabishvili has accused the Prosecutor General, Otar Partskhaladze, of pressurising and threatening him. According to the former Prime Minister, he was removed from his cell, following which Mr Partskhaladze attempted to extract certain information relating to the Zurab Zhvania case, as well as Mikheil Saakashvili, from him.
