How much are family hotel owners paying in taxes, and when are they obliged to use cash registers? A spokesman for the Tax Services has told TV3 that owners of hotels with a capacity to accommodate 15 guests or more, who are not paying a fixed amount of tax, will be fined if they don’t use cash registers. He adds that numerous such breaches of law have taken place both in Tbilisi and in the province since the new legislation was adopted. Violations have also been reported at family hotels in tourist resorts. In Tbilisi, various family hotel owners claim that they have been fully complying with the law regarding the use of cash registers since its enactment. Thus, the owner of the Alliance Hotel has told TV3 that the business has been operating since 2012, and has never had any problems with the tax authorities.
