A decision on whether the criminal cases against Davit Kezerashvili and Gigi Ugulava will be split and handled separately from each other could be made today. The former Defence Minister’s team is to respond to the prosecution’s motion to have the case dealt with separately today.
Mr Kezerashvili and Mr Ugulava are facing charges of appropriation of property and money laundering. The charges against the Mayor relate to three separate episodes – the sale of the Rike territory, the sale of the TV station Imedi, and the employment of UNM activists in Tbilservicegroup.
The court is currently studying the Imedi case, although the prosecution is yet to cross-examine one of its main witnesses, Joseph Kay. The trial has been adjourned several times due to Mr Kezerashvili’s arrest in France.
