Tata Nano To Be Redesigned For U.S. nano tata

Tata Motors announced its intentions to introduce their world’s famous cheap car, the Nano, to the American market in 2015. Until then they are going to figure out a way to make the car look a bit less creepy, and fit it with more features and equipment. They realized the Nano wouldn’t sell in America in its standard state.

It’s going to be one helluva job though, improving the Nano. Unless they are prepared to redesign the whole thing from the ground up, the Nano doesn’t have much room for improvement. Whats more, in order to make the car America-ready, they are going to have to put stuff like advanced airbags, power steering, and traction control on it, and it also needs a bigger engine.

All that will make the car much more expensive than what its reputation as the world’s cheapest production car suggests. Tata is expecting to sell the Nano in Europe and America for about $10,000. That is cheap for a new car, but in both those continents 10 grand can buy you a very decent second hand car. Who would pay that much for a small and ugly Indian box?
