On February 2 the Minister of Finance of Georgia Kakha Bainduashvili met the representatives of Georgia’s leasing companies. The Minister presented a new leasing initiative.
“We’re motivated to help leasing business develop. This new initiative will allow acquiring expensive equipment for fewer prices, which will be very important for agricultural sector, also SMEs,” declared Mr. Baindurashvili.
The new legislation will help asset funding and creating new sources and in general developing new type of investment culture in this field.
The new bill developed through consultations will be handed to the Parliament.

The Ministry of Finance of Georgia (MOF) comes up with a new initiative in terms of the country’s land economic border defense and anti-smuggling activities. These were the issues announced by the Minister of Finance Kakha Baindurashvili and Deputy Finance Minister Rusudan Kemularia on January 31 special briefing. According to MOF, production that gets in the country through violating customs procedures seriously affects the fair competition environment in the country.
Despite the active measures taken in respect to anti-smuggling activities smuggling still is an issue in the local market. …

Ministry of Finance of Georgia (MOF) closed the very first month of 2011 with profit budget. Georgia’s Finance Minister Kakha Baindurashvili assessed the budget accomplishing indicators on February 1.
“January of 2011 was closed with impressive fiscal results compared to the same period in previous years. In general, economic activity is not that big because of the climate conditions and natural factors, however, this year we see the situation proved to be good enough,” declared the Finance Minister.
