Summary of the Vilnius Summit

The government of Georgia is to summarise the results of the Vilnius Summit today. The conference is being attended by leading figures of the legislative and executive government.
The event was opened by the Chairman of the Parliament, Davit Usupashvili. The conference attendees were addressed by the Prime Minister, Irakli Gharibashvili, and the President, Giorgi Margvelashvili.
The Prime Minister symbolically dedicated the meeting to Zurab Zhvania’s 50th anniversary, and noted that it was Mr Zhvania who took the first step towards Europe.
According to Mr Gharibashvili, the association agreement is a historic event for Georgia, and formalising it in September 2014 will be the most important event after the Vilnius Summit.
The Prime Minister thanked the European Union and noted that in Georgia, the EU has a reliable partner.
