Do medicaments require inspection and quality control in Georgia? An initiative in this regard has been proposed by the Health Minister Davit Sergeenko, who says that the quality control mechanism will cover both the local medicaments and the imported raw materials used to manufacture them. There has been a response to the minister’s initiative from the pharmaceuticals sector. The Director General of the company GPC Davit Kiladze views the initiative positively, and says that controlling the quality of medicaments is essential. He adds that GPC products are being inspected in the United States. The Director General of the National Pharmacy Archil Morchiladze has also welcomed Mr. Sergeenko’s move for stricter control of the quality of medicaments, saying that it will lessen the risk factors attached to the use of the products.
