Steven Tyler’s daughter didn’t want him to accept the American Idol judging job as she thought it was too ‘cheesy’.

The iconic rock musician was announced as one of the new panel members on the hit TV talent show in September 2010 ‘ alongside Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson. The star made his debut on the tenth season last year, and has since returned to do a second season. Although Steven has enjoyed a lot of success on the TV series, his daughter Chelsea begged her father to turn down the offer initially.

‘I was definitely pushing toward a no when he got the offer,’ she told the New York Post.
‘I thought it was a little cheesy.’

Chelsea says her dad’s commitment to the role made her reconsider her original reservations. She is now proud of his achievements.

‘I didn’t realise the heart he was going to put into it. That’s really him, and I have a tendency to want to keep him private,’ she revealed.
‘It’s daunting to share him like that.’
