The State departments disagree with the preliminary data on economic growth recently published by the National Statistics Service. According to the Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri, the Sakstat figure of -0.8% GDP growth in June is erroneous. Similarly, the Tax Department has categorically denied the claims that their income has been reduced. In contrast, the Director of Sakstat Zaza Chelidze has denied that there are any disagreements between his organisation and the State departments. According to him, the June economic growth figures will be reviewed twice, and it is possible that they will be more positive in the end. Mr. Chelidze adds that the 2013 six month average figure is 1.8% above last year’s figure for the same period, painting an overall positive picture.
