Sony Plans to Open a Logistics Center in Georgia

(CNA)-On April 3 Griogi Kvirikashvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia held talks with Masahiro Soga, General Manager of Sony, regarding the opening of logistics center. Through the center the company will distribute its production to nearby regions.
Also, intensive works are ongoing regarding the opening of a visual arts academy. Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia are actively involved in this project. Sony Picture by Sony company plans to add incubator model to the academy project and thus by sharing the know-how to assist the development of TV and cinema content on the local market.
“The school will be equipped with modern technologies. We’re trying to give talented youth an opportunity to get quality education both in Georgia and abroad. We’ll teach them how to prepare high class TV programs and shoot movies with modern technologies like HD and 3-D formats,” declared Soga.
“The school will function under Sony brand and it will carry a regional importance, “stated Kvirikashvili.
Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia is committed to assist export-oriented market development in the country. In particular, the ministry plans to increase the number of Android programmers and intends to launch Android Developers Lab together with Sony. Mobile phones by Sony that work based on Android system have occupied leading positions worldwide.
Another meeting of Sony representatives is planned in May, 2013. The company will get familiar with the government’s vision regarding digital broadcasting. Large-scale presentation is expected to be held in this respect. Georgia will start digital broadcasting in June, 2015.
