With over 72,600 vehicles delivered, Skoda achieved its best ever July sales figures, thanks to a 6% increase in demand. Cumulated figures for the fist seven month of the year show an 8.1% increase in global sales to 565,600 cars.

Unlike most other carmakers, Skoda achieved good gains in some European market, such as the UK +20%, Denmanrk with +24.7%, France with +6.2% and Belfium with +8.2%. The Czech carmaker’s most popular models in Western Europe were the Octavia, with 8,500 sold in July, and the Fabia’s 6,600 deliveries.

Meanwhile, the carmaker’s figures in Eastern Europe showed a 26.8% increase in July. This is largely due to the Russian market, where Skoda enjoys a 3.5% market share.

China also proved a source of growth, as demand there increased 6.6% in July to 19,000 vehicles. This confirmed China’s status as the brand’s strongest individual market.

“We managed to continue growing and sell more cars in July despite an economic environment that is increasingly very difficult,” said Jürgen Stackmann, Skoda board member for sales and marketing. “We have improved Skoda’s position further in the first seven months of this year. However, development of demand in many European markets concerns us. What we now need to do is stay our course,” said Stackmann.
