Second Stage of Universal Health Insurance Program to begin

The second, broader stage of the Universal Health Insurance Program is to begin today. The Program, which was launched on 28 February, serves all individuals between 6 and 60 years of age, who at the time of the launch held no health insurance of any kind. From 1 July, the broadening of the Program sees the addition to the insurance package of the financing of urgent treatments, laboratory check-ups, a wide spectrum of pre-planned operations, and cancer patient treatment. Pregnancy and maternity care will also be added to the basic package.
