Is the Tbilisi Metro safe to use? The safety of usage of the metro, as well as the existing sanitary conditions there, were discussed at a City Council meeting today. The head of the Georgian Dream Coalition faction Zaza Gabunia has met the head of the transport company operating the metro, and obtained information about the safety conditions from him personally. Earlier, Mr. Gabunia also consulted specialists from the Georgian Technical University, according to whom the technical conditions in the metro do not meet international standards. In response, the head of the transport company Levan Koplatadze has claimed that some of the reports on this issue were specifically designed to damage the company’s reputation, and that in reality, all safety and sanitary norms are being adhered to in the metro. The meeting took place behind closed doors, and comments were made afterwards.
