Road Links between Georgia and Russia to be Restored

Information about the restoration of Russian-Georgian road links has been confirmed by the Russian side on the TV3 program Delovye Novosti for the first time. According to the head of the Russian Transport Ministry’s Goods Transportation Department Leonid Sokotov, talks to this effect are being conducted in a friendly environment. He further states that equal significance is being afforded to the issues of goods transportation and passenger travel. According to the Georgian Ministry of the Economy, up to 500 goods transportation permits have been exchanged between the two sides in 2013. The Georgian side adds that there are plans to simplify the visa requirements for the transportation companies, and to restore regular bus services.
