54 regions in Georgia are to be well informed about agricultural issues. The Ministry of Agriculture is planning to provide farmers with access to the necessary information through the regionally established Information and Consultation Centres. The service has been successful, and has facilitated communication between the Agriculture Ministry and the farmers, according to the Ministry spokeswoman Marika Gelashvili.
The farmers are satisfied with the functioning of the centres, which function as a link between the Ministry and the locals involved in the agriculture sector, Ms. Gabunia states. Similar establishments had been around in 2005, although they were soon closed due to ineffectiveness.
