Will there be a reduction on public transport fares? The Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council Irakli Shikhiashvili has told TV3 that the Council is currently debating the issue. Prior to any decisions being made, the terms of all public transport tenders carried out under the previous government will be reviewed. Mr. Shikhiashvili has not commented on any details, but says that any fare reductions will not be carried out at the expense of the business sector.
Public transport fares were increased in 2011, with service improvements and higher oil prices cited as the reasons for the increase.
