Prime Minister of Georgia Visited the Avchala Refrigeration System

On July 24 Prime Minister of Georgia VanoMerabishvili visited Avchala within the framework of the Government programme under the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, where he saw the refrigeration system for fruits and vegetables and learnt about it technical characteristics.

PM emphasized the importance of refrigerator-containers from the point of improvement of the Georgian product competitiveness. He mentioned that the refrigeration system enables to sell the purchased seasonal fruits and vegetables on Georgian market even after the completion of the season that will finally give us opportunity to reduce the amount of imported fruits and vegetables from other countries. According to the Prime Minister, it should be also mentioned that refrigerator complex have also such pre-coolers that are the best options to freeze fruits that will ensure its maximally safe transportation abroad.

Herewith, the Prime Minister Merabishvili added that within the framework of the Government programme of the Ministry of Agriculture, during past several months, on entire territory of Georgia there have been opened the analogous to Avchala Refrigeration system up to 40 000 tons capacity refrigerator complexes.

Capacity of the Avchala refrigerator-container is 8 000 tons. It is equipped with the modern ventilation, temperature and humidity controlling technologies of Dutch production that enables to keep fruits and vegetables for the maximum of time while fully maintains fruits and products with their natural taste and useful features. At present, about 50 local resident have been employed at the refrigeration system though it is intended to employ up to 150 people if the system starts operation with its full capacity.
