Presentation of Yearly Account of Activities in the Energy Sector

During the first 6 months of 2013, 28% of all foreign investment has gone into the energy sector, the Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze has stated during the presentation of the yearly account of activities. The figure represents a 7% increase compared to the same period last year. According to the minister, the construction of a Georgian-Turkish high intensity electricity line has already been completed. Furthermore, 15 hydroelectric power plants are being built across the country. A memorandum has been signed for conducting technical-economic research on 26 HPPs, which will have a capacity of 545 MW, and attract a total investment of $850 million.
