  • London 2012: Olympic ticket allocation revealed at schools

    School Reporters are reporting today on which tickets their schools will receive for the Games this summer.

    Schools in the Get Set network already know their ticket numbers but not the specific Olympic or Paralympic events.

    School Reporters will question London 2012 chairman Lord Coe about the ticketshare scheme that is allocating 100,000 tickets to UK students.

    London Mayor Boris Johnson will reveal the capital’s schools have 75,000 extra seats and he will also be quizzed.

  • Mercedes Benz to double luxury passenger cars production at Chakan Plant in India

    To cope with increasing demand of luxury cars in India, Mercedes Benz can increase production at their Chakan Plant near Pune to 20,000 units per annum as soon as they need to. Mercedes Benz A Class and B Class hatchbacks and SUVs are set to be assembled on their new assembly lines at Chakan for the time being while the company could need to opt for dedicated assembly lines once demand increases.
    Besides this, Mercedes Benz has also planned increased investments this year so as to set up paint shop at the Chakan plant itself as the company has to depend on Tata Motors paint shop for their operations.

    Poland’s plan to avoid power blackouts by limiting Germany’s growing renewable electricity flows through its territory may help erase the biggest price gap between the neighbors in at least three years.

    Baseload, or round-the-clock, supplies of German power for next-year delivery were an average 13 percent more expensive than Poland’s in the past year, the biggest premium for the comparable period since at least 2009, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Poland’s plan to put transformers on its 467-kilometer (290-mile) border with Germany may regulate flows, freeing up its own capacity for buying and selling, according to PSE Operator SA, Poland’s grid manager.

  • OIL FUTURES: Nymex Crude Rises, Brent Falls In Sluggish Market

    TOKYO (Dow Jones)–Crude-oil futures were mixed Thursday in Asia, with Nymex crude rising while ICE Brent crude was down amid a lack of market-moving news.

    On the New York Mercantile Exchange, light, sweet crude futures for delivery in April traded at $105.77 a barrel at 0650 GMT, up $0.34 in the Globex electronic session. April Brent crude on London’s ICE Futures exchange fell $0.04 to $124.93 a barrel.

    Traders said price movements can be exaggerated by computer trading in a sluggish market.
