The United National Movement is going back to parliamentary work and is planning to put forward a 5 point list of demands at today’s session of the Bureau. The list was compiled at the party’s political council meeting recently.
The opposition is demanding the establishment of two investigative committees – one to investigate Gigi Ugulava’s claims of pressure being applied on the Tbilisi Municipal Court, and the other to deal with Vano Merabishvili’s claims of intimidation.
The UNM is also asking for the human rights and judicial committees to hold a joint session to discuss the aforementioned issues. Furthermore, they want the Public Defender, Ucha Nanuashvili, to appear before the Parliament in order to provide information about his meeting with Mr Merabishvili.
The UNM’s final demand is for the Prosecutor Genral to also appear before the Parliament and answer questions from opposition MPs.
