Talks are ongoing about the entry of a new pharmaceuticals company on the Georgian market. However, according to the Health Minister, it would be premature to speak about new players on the market prior to improving the quality control mechanism. Foreign specialists invited by the ministry had recently emphasised the problem of quality contro. The entry of a large international pharmaceuticals company on the local market had earlier been announced by Bidzina Ivanishvili at a regional meeting with the media. According to the Prime Minister, he has personal friendly relations with the leadership of the said company, and has already spoken to them about the possibility of the company’s expansion into Georgia, which would lead to a lowering of prices on medicines.
