New Cross upon the Dome of Bagrati Temple

New cross has been erected upon the dome of the Bagrati Temple. The temple was reconstructed under the project of Vano Gremelashvilia, Georgian architect. President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili attended the ceremony. Archbishop Kalistrate welcomed the president in the yard of the temple, blessed him and presented him with an icon of King Davit Aghmashenebeli.

“We must restore everything, we must construct everything and this is not the property of any political party, it belongs to Georgia, politicians, non-politicians, worshippers and atheists. Bagrati Temple is the symbol of united Georgia,” said Saakashvili.
