New legislation designed to protect consumer rights is being introduced in Georgia. According to the head of the Federation of Consumers Madona Koidze, the legislation is based on European standards, and incorporated the UN’s recommendations with regards to protecting consumer rights.
According to a statement from the Parliament, the legislation has not been finalised yet. The previous legislation regarding the protection of consumer rights ceased to function in May 2011. The new laws are to be examined by the Parliament before the end of the year.
