The establishment of new agricultural enterprises is an initiative that belongs to the Prime Minister. Loans have been given out at competitive rates as part of the Cheap Agro-Credit Program. The Agricultural Development Fund, which has a budget of 1 billion GEL, has been aiming to either create new enterprises, or to expand existing ones, with the help of the participating banks. Bidzina Ivanishvili has stated that establishing new agricultural enterprises is not an easy task, and all efforts are being made to attract additional investors to this project. The Prime Minister reckons that around 100 new enterprises will be established by the end of the year, instead of the 60 that were initially planned. Up to this point, loans totalling more than 12 000 000 USD have been given out as part of the Cheap Agro-Credit Program.
