Russia has deployed parts of its nuclear arsenal in the Kaliningrad Region. The said information has already been confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defence. According to Moscow officials, the deployment of the Iskander M missile system does not go against international agreements.
According to foreign media reports, the whole Baltic region and Poland will be within the striking range of the Kaliningrad-based missile complex. East Germany is also within reach of the Iskanders. The technology has also been deployed close to the borders with Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
According to Russian officials, the deployment of tactical missiles close to the EU borders comes as a response to the deployment of the American anti-missile systems in Europe. Political analysts have also linked the move to the current events in Ukraine.
