Meeting Between the Finance Ministry and the Banking Sector Representatives

The role of the banking sector in the development of the economy, and more information provided by the Finance Ministry to the banks – these were some of the issues discussed at today’s meeting between the members of the Finance Ministry and the Association of Georgian Banks, as well as representatives from various banks that operate in Georgia. The Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri has told TV3 that such meetings are important, and that the banking sector must become actively involved in the process of funding the country’s economy.
The minister’s views about the significance of the meeting and the cooperation between the Finance Ministry and the banks have been echoed by the head of the Association of Georgian Banks Zurab Gvasalia. According to him, the advancement of the country’s economy has a direct impact on the strength of the banking sector. Therefore, the development of the Georgian economy is in the private financial institutions’ best interests. All parties have announced that meetings of this kind will be held on a larger scale in the future.
