TV3 has found out that one of the aspects of the Kazakhstani billionaire Alexander Mashkevitch’s investment into the Georgian health sector will be to establish an adequate medicament quality control system. The Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili has made a statement in this regard at a recent meeting with media representatives. The Health Minister Davit Sergeenko has stated that the ministry is actively pursuing the aim of establishing a solid medicament quality control system, as it will pave the way for foreign pharmaceutical companies to enter the Georgian market. Several companies have already expressed their interest in this regard. According to Mr. Sergeenko, local companies have also been consulted on the issue of quality control.
A spokesman for Medical Activities Regulatory Agency has stated that the entry of new companies onto the pharmaceuticals market will enhance healthy competition. According to him, a wider availability of the medicaments will lead to a decrease in prices and an increase in quality.
