According to the information obtained by TV3, the quality of the McDonald’s burgers will be inspected by the Food Safety Agency. Agency spokesman Kakha Sokhadze has told TV3 that the inspection will be conducted on the back of the NGO Positivi’s recommendation. The Food Safety Agency now conducts regular checks at the fast food units in Tbilisi.
Controversial statements recently made by the famous English chef Jamie Oliver drew TV3’s attention to this issue. However, the global fast food brand’s representative director in Georgia Tengiz Kapanadze categorically stated that all burgers at McDonald’s are being prepared with due regard for the ecological standards. He did not allow the McDonald’s kitchen to be filmed, citing corporate secrecy as the reason.
