A 50 million sequester, and an unknown future for the capital city’s 2014 budget – the Mayor’s Office has criticised the Finance Ministry in relation to the reduced transfer of funds. The Deputy Mayor Papuna Petriashvili has described Nodar Khaduri’s allegations regarding the inappropriate nature of hundreds of millions’ worth of funds in bank accounts as absurd. According to him, a large part of the funds on the accounts has been written out in advance, and it will be impossible to use them for any other purposes next year.
On his part, Mr. Khaduri has re-emphasised his points about the large sums deposited in the bank accounts and the unfulfilled obligations. However, the Mayor’s Office has stated that the reduction in the transfer of budget funds will affect various projects that are due to be conducted in 2014. It hopes that the Finance Ministry will review its decision, and attain an optimal solution to the issue.
