Will the Lada Centre case reach the Strasbourg courts? The former owner of Lada Centre Shalva Obgaidze is demanding to have justice restored, and the assets which had been confiscated from him under the previous government returned to him. Mr. Obgaidze states that he was the automobile manufacturer Lada’s exclusive distributor in Georgia at the time when he was forced to give up his company. He adds that should the investigation process drag on, then he would be appealing to the international court in Strasbourg.
Lada Centre is currently owned by Nissan Georgia. The company states that it has no knowledge of any confiscation of assets, and that Nissan acquired exclusive rights to Lada lawfully.
