A lack of facilities is the most serious problem faced by disabled people. According to non-governmental organisations dealing with these issues, the country has not managed to adapt itself to the needs of the disabled yet. Their rights are protected by the national constitution, but there are no levers to enforce the legislation.
The general population’s attitude towards the issues concerning the disabled is also problematic. Frequently, people do not show any regard towards the disabled when parking on the streets. The difficulties are exacerbated by lack of facilities in public transport. At this time, only 34 buses have facilities for the disabled.
