(CNA)- Kakha Kaladze, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia, met with Philip Dimitrov, European Union Ambassador to Georgia, Fabricio Barbosa, Deputy Director of European Commission and Janez Kopac, Director of Energy Community.

Georgia’s integration into the organization was discussed during the meeting. The sides agreed future cooperation perspectives.

Minister noted that Georgia’s integration into NATO and EU is crucial for the country.

The aim of Energy Community is to create transparent and competitive regional energy market, based on EU directives and Energy Community charter principles. The major task for the organization is an efficient integration into EU energy markets.

In the beginning of the current year Georgia referred to the Energy Community for membership, which is believed to have a positive influence on the country’s investment climate.

One of the priorities for the Energy Community is to work on renewable, pure energy resources, which is a priority for Georgia as well. Georgia, as the producer of pure energy, will be given an opportunity to establish trade electricity with European countries through Turkey.
