The Prime Minister has told journalists at a regular meeting that speculation about his possible departure from politics has to stop. Mr. Ivanishvili promised to make a statement on this issue well in advance, and to leave no questions unanswered. He has hinted on several occasions in the past that he might leave the political stage after the presidential elections in October.

The Prime Minister also made it clear that his party would not be changing its nominated candidate for the elections, regardless of whom he will be facing as his main challenger for the presidential post. This came as a response to the speculation that Paata Burchuladze could be presented as one of the candidates. Br. Ivanishvili states that the Georgian Dream candidate Giorgi Margvelashvili will be difficult to beat in the elections, even by someone like Mr. Burchuladze.
