Iran to Mass-Produce 4WD Cars based on Euro5 Standard
TEHRAN – Iran is due to mass-produce a new type of home-made 4WD cars based on Euro5 standard, a senior Iranian legislator said on Monday.
“The car will be produced and introduced to the market in the form of a four-door, high-chassis vehicle for Iranian families and it will be attractive to the Iranian youth,” member of the parliament’s Industries Commission Kamaleddin Pirmoazzen said on Monday.
Noting that the car will be produced based on Euro5 standard, he added, “Annually, 220,000 cars of this kind will be produced and will be presented to the market at the price of $25,000 to $50,000.”
Pirmoazzen said that the new 4WD car will be produced in Ardebil province in Northwestern Iran.
Over the past years, Iran has been trying to localize the parts and boost the production of its own brand car.
The Middle-East’s largest car manufacturer, the Iran-Khodro Company (IKCO), has started establishing production sites across the country in line with the government’s decentralization policy (pushing industries out of the capital).
IKCO has many assembly lines and after-sales service centers across the world, including over 30 after-sales service centers in Iraq.
