Investment into Tourist Resorts

Investments worth tens of millions of Lari are to be made into the resorts of Tskaltubo, Mestia and Anaklia next year. The information was first reported by the Russian Interfax news agency, based upon the statement from the head of the Georgian National Tourism Agency. The latter’s spokesman Siko Gegiadze has told TV3 that the construction of a new 12km long skiing route and the opening of the new Tetnuldi resort are planned in Mestia, to be completed by March 2014. Major infrastructural developments are to take place in Anaklia and Tskaltubo as well. Mr. Gegiadze has also spoken about the tourist statistics, saying that there has been a 37% increase in the amount of visitors to Georgia compared to last year. The majority of foreign visitors are nationals of neighbouring countries.
