What kind of work is being carried out to improve the infrastructure of Anaklia, and how much will it cost to improve the beach resort in this regard? At the initiative of the Ministry of Infrastructure, works have already begun to strengthen the coastline in Anaklia, which will see the construction of coastal protection structures. The project will be carried out in two stages, and a total of 4km of coastline will be strengthened. The project also envisages the improvement of the coastline itself and the setting up of a sand beach. The project will be conducted by the Municipal Development Fund, with funding from the Asian Development Bank, and its first stage will cost in excess of GEL 15 300 000. Elguja Khokrishvili, the head of the Municipal Development Fund, has told TV3 that improving the infrastructure in Anaklia will lead to a higher interest from tourists towards the resort, as well as providing a stimulus for the private sector to invest locally. According to Mr. Khokrishvili, the project will also create jobs for the local population. The duration of works in the first stage of the project will be between 9 and 10 months.
Works on strengthening the coastline in Anaklia will be carried out by the company Modern Business Group. The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure adds that a total of GEL 30 million will be spent on the project. Works on improving roads and the water supply system are also being planned.
