Increase in Customer Complaints towards Banks

What has caused the increase in customer complaints towards the commercial banks? According to the National Bank data, 265 complaints were registered in July, up by 43 from the previous month. The complaints mainly concern transactions, penalties and service quality. Zurab Gvasalia, the President of the Association of Banks, has told TV3 that the increase in the number of complaints is insignificant, and not a cause to worry. He claims that one of the main problems is the lack of banking product knowledge on the customers’ part.
Economics expert Irakli Lekvinadze has linked the increase in the number of customer complaints to the MP Gedevan Popkhadze’s initiative with regards to a 6 month moratorium on repossessions within the banking sector.
