Hyundai India to increase car prices by upto Rs 20,000

Hyundai India is scheduled to hike car prices from 1st February 2013. The price hike will be effective on all their cars, right from Hyundai Eon small car to Santa Fe SUV.

2011 Hyundai ElantraHyundai Motor India, the country’s largest exporter and second largest car manufacturer, has announced car price hike of up to Rs.20,000. This announcement follows similar price hikes announced by other major auto companies in the country.

Hyundai Eon sells for Rs. 2.77 lakhs to Rs.3.83 lakhs while the Santa Fe SUV is priced between Rs.22.61 lakhs to Rs.25.63 lakhs. The company has cited higher input costs and fluctuations in currency as primary reasons for this price increase. Till date, Hyundai Motors had tried to absorb these additional costs, but have now decided to increase prices marginally to pass on part of these additional costs to consumers.
Maruti Suzuki too announced price hikes, which came into effect at start of the New Year. Dzire sedan sees a price hike of upto Rs.10,000 while prices of the new Etriga MPV are raised by Rs.7,800. Eeco van now comes in with the most significant price hike of Rs.23,000.
