Will the national minimum wage be reviewed? According to the July 2013 data, the average minimum wage for a working age male was GEL 148.8, and GEL 242.8 for an average family. Zviad Dzidziguri of the Georgian Dream Coalition has told TV3 that the current minimum wage is insufficient to meet people’s everyday needs. He has not ruled out a review of the issue in the near future.
Giorgi Vashadze of the United National Movement has pointed out that one of Georgian Dream’s election promises was to raise the minimum wage to GEL 220, while the pension increase to GEL 150 had already been included by the UNM in last year’s Budget.
