Lado Gurgenidze will be replaced as Director General of the Liberty Bank by his Deputy Giorgi Arveladze. Mr. Gurgenidze himself, according to his statement, will devote the freed up time to the bank’s strategic development.

Together with Mr. Arveladze, Mr. Gurgenidze’s other deputies will share the outgoing Director General’s curatorial duties. Mr. Gurgenidze acquired the bank in 2009 together with the Romanian billionaire Dinu Patriciu, after which he acted both as the Director General, as well as the head of the Supervisory Council at the bank.
