Gigi Ugulava is planning to take part in the 2014 local elections. The current Mayor of Tbilisi has made a statement in this regard on the Big Politics talk show. According to him, the country is entering a difficult and unfamiliar system of government. “We will have a situation where the President is institutionally weak, while the leading figure, who has widespread public support, is leaving the scene. If he has any illusions about being able to control the situation from the outside, then such illusions will be dispelled within a month, at most. He will also face the problem of the legitimacy of the government,” Mr. Ugilava has stated and added that he does not wish to see the capital being left dysfunctional until May, and will ensure that all services necessary for the city to function well remain in order.
