Georgia’s Interior Minister to Become PM

Vano Merabishvili, Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia becomes Prime Minister ahead of a parliamentary election due in October. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili made the announcement during the briefing held in the president`s palace on June 30.
“My major object will be to bring more benefits to the people”, the new PM said. In his words, the new position is a great honor as well as responsibility for him.
According to Ivanishvili, successful reforms like those carried out in the police should be adopted in economic and political spheres as well.
New PM has to present the new government`s composition and action program in two days.
The cabinet of ministers will include one more minister, which will be in charge of a new employment ministry. The new office is expected to assist to unemployment issues in the country.
