After mineral water and alcoholic drinks, there are plans to export Georgian fruit and vegetables to the Russian market. A group of Russian experts will examine the existing product control system during a three day visit to Georgia. Laboratories both in Tbilisi and in the provinces will be examined. According to the Minister of Agriculture Shalva Pipia, the experts will visit manufacturing units in the regions of Adjara, Inner Kartli, and Kakheti. Once they have studied the Georgian certification system and the quality of the local produce, it will become possible to bring fruit and vegetables onto the Russian market. There is a particular interest towards Georgian fruit from the Russian side, Mr. Pipia adds.
