What is the Notary Chamber’s response to the fraudulent mortgage scheme that has been carried out through the Skype program recently? The Notary Chamber has been issuing Power of Attorney (POA) documents via Skype since 2010. It has transpired that fraudsters have managed to mortgage and re-sell properties through falsified POAs over Skype. Therefore, TV3 has sought to find out how strict the checks on POAs issued through the Skype program are. In response, the deputy head of the Notary Chamber executive board Lali Gzirishvili has insisted that the issuing of POAs through Skype has been a highly successful project, and that over 16000 documents have been issued in this manner since 2010.
