Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry said that four bodies have been recovered from the site of a collapsed nine-story apartment block in the city of Astrakhan.

Rescuers continue to search for six residents of the building who are still unaccounted for.

The ministry said 26 people have been freed from the rubble, five of whom are still in the hospital.

The collapse is being blamed on a gas explosion in the building.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has ordered the formation of a government commission to investigate the blast and deal with its aftermath.
