MonitorInfo can exclusively reveal that flights to Mestia will be conducted by the company Aviaservice. The Governor of Mestia Kapiton Zhorzholiani has stated that bi-weekly flights will resume on 6 September, and will cost GEL 50 each way. Details of the contract with Aviaservice are currently being finalised, and the agreement will be signed on 5 September.
“Flights to Mestia have to be conducted without refuelling, and should carry 20-22 passengers. These conditions have only been met by the company Aviaservice,” Mr. Zhorzholiani states.
Aviaservice replaces the Canadian company Kenn Borek Air, which was operating flights to Mestia since December 2010. Flights were conducted on a government-leased 19-seater Canadian plane of DHC-6-300 type, and cost GEL 75 each way.
