Are Barambo consumers under a health risk? TV3 has become interested in this issue following the discovery of expired aromatisers in the company’s warehouse during a routine inspection by the National Food Agency. According to the head of the Food Safety Department Kakha Sokhadze, the aromatisers had expired in 2011, and all products containing them were supposed to have been destroyed. Further checks are currently being made to establish whether products containing the expired aromatisers have been put on sale. According to Mr. Sokhadze, these additional inspections will determine whether or not there is a health risk to the Barambo consumers.
Tako Nibladze, a spokeswoman for the company Barambo, has stated that the controversy stirred up by the Food Safety Department is unfounded, and that the company would never allow expired products to enter the market.
