It has been confirmed that the renowned fast food company Subway will begin to operate in Georgia soon. TV3’s reports on this subject from several weeks ago have now been confirmed by the company’s Area Development Manager for Central and Eastern Europe, Kevin Prince, in an interview with the Commercial Times. Mr. Prince states that Georgia represents an interesting market with good opportunities, and that Subway plans to operate 4 branches in the country by the end of 2014. He further explains that the opening of the first Georgian franchises by the end of this year is the company’s main priority at this stage. However, at some point after becoming a firm fixture on the Georgian market, Subway plans to consider a further regional expansion into Armenia and Azerbaijan. Mr. Prince also talks about the advantages which he sees in his company’s product in comparison with McDonald’s and Wendy’s. According to him, Subway customises its food to match each customer’s wishes. McDonald’s has been operating several restaurants in Georgia for a number of years, while the first Wendy’s is set to open this autumn.
